Equipment Operator

The purpose of this classification is to drive/operate heavy equipment, trucks, and other equipment to perform manual work associated with landfill operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED supplemented by vocational/technical training in heavy equipment operation; supplemented by one (1) years previous experience and /or training involving heavy equipment operations or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Requires pre-employment drug test

Operations Manager Job Description (Summary)

Assist with management of overall operations and responsible for the effective and successful management of quality control and safety measures. Ensure safe and efficient operations. Serve as representative on various issues. Enhance the operational procedure, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities may include interviewing, selection and hiring; training new and existing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; authoring and discussing with employee’s performance appraisals; addressing employee performance and corrective action plans; employee motivation and rewards. Assist in budget preparation.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of increasing supervisory and responsibility experience in management. Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices and procedures. Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Perform a variety of tasks. Lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Reports to County Administrator.
